Police are investigating and hoping for tips after four separate incidents that saw Pride flags cut down at Avon Maitland District School Board schools.
A post on Facebook from North Easthope Public School in Stratford shared the news that not only had the flagpole bearing the Pride flag been cut down there, there were also Pride flags and flagpoles cut down at Central Perth Elementary in Sebringville, Elma Township Public School in Atwood, and Mornington Central Public School in Newton.
The post from North Easthope Public School called the incidents "extremely disappointing and a targeted hateful act of vandalism," stating that staff were "saddened" to have to report the incidents, which are now under police investigation.
Perth OPP are asking for the public's help identifying two persons of interest who were seen on an ATV in the area of the four incidents. They are described as male, wearing all black clothing and face coverings. The two were also carrying a saw.
Anyone who has any tips regarding these crimes should contact Perth County OPP, Stratford Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
