Chatham-Kent (CK) Councilor Rhonda Jubenville has set her sights on another run in the upcoming municipal election.
Her name will be on the ballot once again for Ward 4 voters come Election Day on October 26.
In an interview with CK News Today, Jubenville stated that she believes there's still work to do.
"I don't feel like I've finalized my mission... I've always been a person that has committed throughout my adult life to serving people," she explained.
Jubenville acknowledges that it will be a tougher run, due to the ward changes and the reduction of councilors.
"My ward is now down to one councilor, so I hope that I am fortunate enough to be re-elected, and I will continue to work hard for the constituents in North Kent and Chatham-Kent," she remarked.
When asked what she hopes to see in the next council, Jubenville said she hopes the division between councilors is closed.
"I have found this to be a very divided council... I'm hoping that the next term of council will be more unified," she voiced. "That doesn't necessarily mean that we can't have opposing opinions, but I feel like a lot of these things were very polarizing and it caused walls between councillors, which doesn't serve well for democracy."
Jubenville also pleaded for all eligible voters to head to the polls.
"I'm hoping for a great voter turnout. We haven't had a good voter turnout in recent years, and I think it's very important, especially at the grassroots municipal level, that people need to come out and use their voice at the ballot box," she said.
Jubenville credited her decision to many constituents who asked her to run again, with some even requesting she run for mayor. Though she doesn't plan on running for mayor at this time.
