Sarnia man wins BWHF Dream Ride Lottery

Congratulations to Sarnia's Richert Bischoff!

He's the winner of the Bluewater Health Foundation's (BWHF) Dream Ride Lottery, and is taking home a brand-new 2026 BMW X1, courtesy of BMW Sarnia.

General Manager Tim Bamford announced the winner over Facebook Live on Friday afternoon.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said the $46,000 raised from the lottery will support diagnostic imaging at Bluewater Health.

The Sarnia site will be getting a second MRI machine, as announced at the foundation's gala in May.

"We're just so grateful for the partnership (with BMW Sarnia)," said Alexander. "It's a longstanding partnership and we're really honoured and proud to be partnering with them once again for this prize. This lottery is much more than just giving out a car, it's about investing in healthcare at Bluewater Health. Every ticket we sold, and we sold out, is being directly reinvested in local healthcare."

Alexander expressed her deep thanks to supporters and volunteers for making the raffle a big success.

Bamford said BMW Sarnia is happy to help with an amazing cause.

Following renovations and installation, the unit is expected to become operational by mid-to-late 2027.

The final cost of the machine won't be known until the RFP (Request for Proposal) process is finalized this fall.

The original MRI machine was purchased about 14 years ago at a cost of nearly $3 million.

The BWHF said the Dream Home Lottery returns this September with another spectacular home to reveal.

Meanwhile, tickets for Sarnia-Lambton Rebound's Wheels of Summer Raffle are still being sold.

Tickets to win a blue Ford Mustang are $100 each and can be purchased through Rebound's website.

Proceeds will support Rebound's 21 programs geared to youth between the ages of eight and 24.

The winning ticket will be drawn on July 29 at 12 p.m. at Sarnia Ford, previously Finch Ford Lincoln.
