The general manager of Chatham Hope Haven has put her name forward for Chatham-Kent's upcoming municipal election.
Loree Bailey is running in Ward 5, hoping to be one of two representatives for people in Wallaceburg and the surrounding area.
She told CK News Today that she believes she's a changemaker and joining the next council will help her continue to be one.
"I want to be on council because I want to be a voice, and I want to be Wallaceburg's voice. I feel like we need a strong voice around the horseshoe," said Bailey.
If elected, Bailey's top priority would be addressing the homelessness crisis. This is an issue near and dear to her heart, given her work with Hope Haven.
"I wouldn't make a promise as far as [delivering], I don't believe in that. What I will promise is that it'll continue to be a priority for me," she explained.
Combatting the drug crisis is also high on her to-do list.
When asked why people should vote for her, Bailey promised she'd always be a councillor for the people.
"When people see my name on the ballot box, I want them to think about someone who listens to them, someone who really cares about them, and someone who isn't going to stop talking until somebody listens."
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
