One Seed Lambton to brighten gardens with colourful crops

Rainbow Swiss Chard is the crop that's been selected by Lambton County Library for this year's One Seed program.

One Seed Lambton provides free seeds, library programs, and other resources to help people learn to garden and grow their own food.

“This year’s One Seed Lambton selection, Rainbow Swiss Chard, will add a colourful pop to your garden and your plate,” said Public Services Coordinator, Adult Programs and Outreach Adrianne Lebert. “Rainbow Swiss Chard can easily be grown in pots on a balcony, in a community garden box, or in a backyard plot.”

Free seed packets of Rainbow Swiss Chard will be available at all Lambton County Library locations starting on Saturday, March 28.

Last year, more than 3,000 seed packets were handed out.

A free event with speaker sessions and a screening of The Biggest Little Farm will be held at the Sarnia Library on Saturday, March 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. to launch this year's program.

More information on how to grow Rainbow Swiss Chard and other events to learn about how to grow your own produce can be found on the Lambton County Library website.
