Grey County Paramedic Chief earns provincial leadership award

Grey County's Paramedic Chief has received recognition for exceptional leadership, pioneering methods, and impactful contributions toward advancing Ontario's paramedic field

Grey County recognized Paramedic Chief Kevin McNab Thursday, after he was named the sole recipient of the 2026 Richard Armstrong Leadership Award during the annual gathering of the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC) in Niagara Falls earlier this month..

McNab has served Grey County for over three decades, including nine years as Paramedic Chief. According to a County media release, McNab guided Grey County Paramedic Services toward becoming a standout standard for community-based paramedicine, medical innovation, and seamless care delivery.

His notable achievements include transforming the local Community Paramedicine Program from an initial trial run into an essential healthcare system that aids hundreds of individuals managing chronic health conditions. Additionally, he successfully obtained provincial grants to maintain the initiative's long-term viability without adding financial burdens to municipal taxpayers.

McNab has played a key role in paramedic training, Ontario-wide clinical guidelines, and forward-thinking health strategies that enhance patient care locally and provincially. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his guidance facilitated localized testing and vaccination outreach, offering crucial assistance to high-risk community members amidst unprecedented public health hurdles.

“Kevin's leadership has had a profound impact on healthcare in Grey County and beyond,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “He is never satisfied with the status quo and is always looking for new ways to improve care, support paramedics, and strengthen our healthcare system. His willingness to innovate, collaborate, and advocate for better services has made Grey County a leader in community paramedicine. We are incredibly proud to see him recognized with this prestigious provincial award.”

“I’m honoured to receive this award and share this recognition with the entire Grey County Paramedic Services team, and to thank County Council for its support and leadership,” said Chief McNab. “The work we do is built on collaboration, dedication, and a shared commitment to providing the best possible care for our residents.”

This honour highlights the combined efforts of more than 160 paramedics and support personnel who care for the Grey County community daily. McNab's career accomplishments have continually developed emergency medical care while boosting overall health outcomes for residents both within Grey County and throughout the region.
