Starting Saturday, a new process has been put in place for all residents visiting the Howick Township Landfill.
The Township says beginning October 3, all visitors will drive over the new weigh scale upon arrival before proceeding to the designated receiving area to sort and dispose of their items.
The change comes after the Township changed to a cart-based automated waste and recycling collection system.
Residents will no longer enter the back portion of the landfill. All materials must be unloaded and sorted in the designated receiving area.
A $10 minimum charge will apply to chargeable materials. Yard waste, tires and scrap metal will continue to be accepted free of charge.
