CCTV Helps Find Vulnerable Senior
Chatham-Kent police are crediting Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras for safely finding a vulnerable 92-year-old man from Chatham.
Police said the senior was reported missing on Tuesday and an extensive search began due to concerns for his well-being.
Police noted he was found Tuesday night after his vehicle ran out of fuel and he had pulled into a driveway at a Longwoods Road home.
Automated Licence Plate Recognition information was also used to establish sightings of the senior’s vehicle in Chatham and Bothwell, according to police.
“Technology such as CCTV can provide our officers with critical information that helps narrow a search area and direct police resources where they are needed most. When a vulnerable person is missing, every piece of timely information can make a difference,” said Staff Sergeant Jason Herder.
CK police continue to emphasize the important role that residents and businesses with exterior security cameras play in supporting police investigations.
