Who says city planning has to start with blueprints? In Owen Sound this weekend, it begins with a pile of LEGO bricks.
The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is inviting residents to put their creativity to work during a special hands-on event that blends imagination with real-world urban planning. On Saturday, August 1, Grey County planners will guide participants through an interactive workshop exploring the building blocks of vibrant communities.
Rather than simply talking about what makes a great neighbourhood, participants will work together to construct their own miniature city spaces using LEGO. Once the building is complete, each group will present its design and explain the ideas behind it, sparking conversations about the elements that help communities thrive.
The program runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and welcomes builders of all ages. Children five and under are encouraged to attend with a parent or older sibling who can help with the activities, while families are invited to learn and create together.
