The recent Longest Day of Golf fundraiser has raised nearly $6,000 for the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation.
This year's event was held on June 22 as Greg Graham, General Manager of Maitland Links Golf Course, raised $5,880 for the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation by completing an incredible 100 holes of golf at Maitland Links in one day.
Greg began golfing at 7 a.m., completing just over 11 rounds of golf at the 9-hole, 3,111-yard course in just under 7 hours.
Spectators were encouraged to cheer on Greg and donate, with many donating money per hole, with other donations coming for every birdie made. Greg sank 11 birdies total on the day.
The money Greg raised will go towards bringing a new ultrasound machine to the Wingham and District Hospital. To learn more about the WDH Foundation and ways to support the hospital visit www.wdhfoundation.ca.
"These community-driven events are what make our area so special," said WDH Foundation Executive Director Nicole Duquette. "Having people like Greg and the folks at Maitland Links recognize the importance of our local hospital and thenput that caring into action is incredibly meaningful."
