Chatham police arrest woman after hammer attack and death threats

A Chatham woman who police say was armed with a hammer has been arrested and charged after allegations that she threatened to kill people and destroy property.

Chatham-Kent police allege the 41-year-old woman was banging on the door of a home on Burton Avenue in Chatham with a hammer shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. It's alleged she threatened to kill the occupants inside and smash all the windows.

Police said she was bound by court conditions not to possess weapons.

The suspect has been charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, mischief, and failing to comply with a release order.
