The Hanover Police Service says it has obtained an arrest warrant to bring in an alleged member of an organized theft ring.
According to police, on January 12, a local pharmacy had over $3,000 of cosmetics stolen. Investigation revealed the same suspect stole similar merchandise earlier that day from pharmacies in Mount Forest and Listowel.
Working with other policing partners across Ontario, corporate security specialists and Canada Border Services, the Hanover Police Service says it has obtained an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old Romanian national, wanted for theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
A statement from Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll said during these joint investigations it was determined that this organized theft ring of professional shoplifters based in the Greater Toronto Area is responsible for almost $500,000 worth of stolen merchandise from pharmacies across Ontario since January of 2025.
A second male suspect alleged to have been involved in the Hanover theft has since been identified and will face similar charges once police investigators seek an arrest warrant. Police say the names of these suspects are being withheld as police investigations remain active and ongoing across Ontario.
Hanover police have previously charged members who are alleged to have been part of this criminal organization for similar shoplifting thefts in which they targeted pharmacies and other ‘big box’ retail stores. Those suspects remain wanted and their whereabouts are not currently known.
