The Chatham Maroons were able to get back into the win column just one game after their five-game winning streak to start the season ended.
The team hosted the Woodstock Navy Vets on Sunday, winning 5-3.
It took the Maroons less than two minutes to open the scoring as Xandre Aitken found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Getting the only assist on the play was Santiago Jimenes.
Eric Wood doubled the Maroons' lead later in the period. His second goal was assisted by Damon Stodola and Aidan Edwards.
Parker Nyitray extended the lead early in the second period with his fourth goal. Edwards picked up another helper, while Cooper Bordeaux got the other assist.
Woodstock would then take over the game, scoring three unanswered goals in the second and third periods to tie the game.
Nyitray restored the Maroons' lead with just over seven minutes left to play. His second goal of the game was assisted by Bordeaux and Emmett Mather.
Bordeaux put the game out of reach a few minutes later with his first career Greater Ontario Hockey League goal. Eddie Hickson and Matteo Mosca with the assists.
Gannon Hunter made 33 saves for his fifth win of the season.
The Maroons' record to start the season now sits at 6-1-0-0.
They'll look to continue the hot start to the season on Thursday when they host the winless Sarnia Legionnaires.
