The Chatham Maroons' unbeaten streak to start the season has ended at five games.
The team played two games on the weekend, winning the first on the road against the Strathroy Rockets, but losing the second at home to the Stratford Warriors.
The Maroons beat Strathroy 4-3, despite following behind 2-0 after the first period. The second period saw the team score three times.
Getting the first goal was Damon Stodola, his first career Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) marker, followed by Dylan Richter with his third and fourth goals of the season.
Parker Nyitray and Cooper Bordeaux assisted on Stodola's goal, while Eddie Hickson and Andrew Baker picked up helpers on Richter's first goal. Bordeaux's assist was his first career GOHL point.
Strathroy would tie the game early in the third period before Logan McAulay restored the Maroon's one-goal lead halfway through the frame. Nyitray had the only assist on McAulay's second goal of the season.
Egor Sokolov made 24 saves for his first career GOHL win.
The second game against Stratford started the same way as the game against Strathroy, as the Maroons would end the first period down by two goals.
Baker opened the scoring for the Maroons with his fifth goal. Richter and McAulay assisted.
Stratford would score four unanswered goals before Richter found the back of the net to cut the lead to two. The assists on Richter's fifth goal went to Hickson and Baker.
Richter added another goal in the second before finishing his hat-trick and tying the game in the third period. Baker picked up assists on both goals, while Hickson added one.
Stratford regained the lead a few minutes later, stopping everything thrown at the net for the rest of the game.
Gannon Hunter made 23 saves in the loss.
The Maroons' record now sits at 5-1-0-0, tied for the best in the Western Conference.
The team will be back in action at home on October 4 against the expansion Woodstock Navy Vets.
