The Chatham Maroons finished off a perfect February, picking up two more wins over the weekend.
The team beat the Strathroy Rockets 6-3 on the road Saturday and the Elmira Sugar Kings 6-2 at home Sunday, finishing the month with a 6-0-0-0 record.
Much of the offense during Saturday's game against Strathroy came in the second period, as the Maroons found the back of the net four times.
The first came off the stick of Carter Chadwick, his 28th goal, with Ewan McChesney and Aydan Doyle assisting.
Xandre Aitken scored his seventh goal less than two minutes later from Matthew Crawford.
Ian Lachance's 12th goal extended the Maroons' lead. Getting the helpers were Bo Doxtator and Chadwick.
The last goal in the period was scored by McChesney. His 20th was assisted by Trevor Zanutto and Lachance.
Strathroy would attempt a comeback, scoring the next three goals. Their rally came up just short as Chadwick added his second of the game with just over a minute left from Aidan Edwards and Doyle.
Crawford later added an empty-netter for his sixth goal.
Samuel DiBlasi made 25 saves for the win. He would be in the net the following day, making 40 saves to help beat Elmira.
Braeden Burke opened the scoring in the first period with his fourth goal. Boris Genov and Doxtator with the assists.
Crawford doubled the lead later in the period from Doyle.
Zanutto added his 32nd goal of the season in the second period from Aitken before Elmira was able to get on the board.
Aitken would also find the back of the net in the period, with Crawford getting the only assist.
Chadwick added another in the third period from Doyle and Genov, before Santiago Jimenes capped the scoring with his first career Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) goal. Getting the assists on Jimenes' goal were Max Skinner and Josh Harding.
The Maroons won't be back in action until Sunday, March 1, when they travel to Waterloo to take on the Siskins. Puck drop will be at 1:30 p.m.
