CK police arrest man for breaking into home with axe

A 31-year-old man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a Chatham home with an axe.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Chatham-Kent police received multiple calls about a person entering a home on Harvey Street.

When officers arrived, they found the man still inside.

After investigating, the police determined the man entered the home after breaking a window. Police also reported that he caused significant damage to the home.

The man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He's since been released from police custody with a future court date.
