Chatham-Kent council will get an update Monday on the progress of the Community Hub in downtown Chatham.
In an information report, administration said the new hub is on budget and is 22 per cent complete.
The $53 million project is also starting to take shape with construction of the council chambers to the north of the building and the library extension and storage area to the south, staff said.
Staff noted steel structures and roof construction have been completed on the south end, along with progress on the elevator structures, utility infrastructure, and interior building systems.
According to staff, mechanical and framing work has continued with the installation of ductwork and portioning multiple areas of the facility, along with electrical, underground servicing, and work on the outside of the building.
The municipality also noted electrical rough-ins and plumbing rough-ins for the washrooms and service areas are also ongoing, along with firestopping and HVAC work throughout the ground floor.
Roof drain openings were completed in preparation for upcoming roofing activities, while partition framing and parapet construction progressed on both floors for the interior and exterior, the report stated.
Administration cited utility servicing also moved forward with excavation and installation of the electrical duct bank, including saw cutting, core drilling, underground service coordination, and layout of future transformer and generator pad locations.
Construction of the new hub began in December with the mobilization of the site and demolition of the interior and exterior of the building.
Completion of the new hub is slated for early 2028, administration noted.
It said detailed transition planning is underway and will be communicated in mid 2027.
