Another alert has been issued over inadequate equipment disinfection practices at an uninspected and unlicensed tattoo provider in Chatham-Kent.
Late Monday afternoon, Chatham-Kent (CK) Public Health said inadequate equipment disinfection practices have been identified at 592 Wallace Street East in Wallaceburg between January 1, 2026 and Monday for tattoo services provided at the site.
CK Public Health advises individuals who received services at this location during the specified time frame to contact their health care provider to arrange a clinical assessment, adding those without a health care provider should visit a walk‑in clinic for evaluation.
Insufficient infection control procedures during tattoo services increases the risk of transmitting blood-borne infections, such as HIV or Hepatitis, as well as infections of the skin.
CK Public Health has issued at least four alerts since 2023 regarding insufficient infection control at tattoo shops and skin clinics, two of them this year alone.
