A doctor from the Thamesview Family Health Team has been recognized for her willingness to teach others.
Dr. Jacqueline Wolting was recently awarded the prestigious Schulich Excellence in Distributed Education Award. The honour goes to those who have a positive impact on medical education across the region.
"Dr. Wolting stands out as an exceptional educator whose leadership, teaching excellence, and unwavering commitment to learners exemplify the very spirit of this award," said Dr. Lindsey Sutherland, Chatham-Kent Regional Academic Director, Distributed Education at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Wolting is a family physician who also provides obstetrical care at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA). She provides students and medical residents an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.
With her dual role, at her own practice and at CKHA, Dr. Wolting is able to provide a holistic view of community medicine. She is uniquely positioned to show students how primary care connects with acute hospital services.
Dr. Zeke Milkovic, CKHA's Chief of Staff, called Dr. Wolting's award a testament to the quality of medical leadership in Chatham-Kent.
"Her commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and providing top-tier medical mentorship ensures that Chatham-Kent remains a premier destination for training," Dr. Milkovic explained. "It is this dedication to education that ultimately helps us attract and retain the talented new physicians our community relies upon."
Dr. Wolting shared that she finds teaching the next generation of doctors very rewarding.
"I am constantly inspired by the curiosity and dedication of my medical students and residents," she said. "I am also proud to work alongside many of them who have remained in Chatham-Kent after completing their training here."
