The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has set a record for funds raised during the sixth Annual Dress Down for Wheels campaign.
“This initiative is a beautiful example of what can happen when people come together in support of children,” said Director of Education Lisa Demers in a news release. “For many students, receiving a bicycle means independence, confidence, and the opportunity to simply enjoy being a kid. We are incredibly grateful to every staff member who contributed to making this year’s campaign such a tremendous success.”
More than $10,000 was raised by staff across the system and at the Catholic Education Centre, who dressed down and donated in support of students.
“This campaign continues to grow because of the compassion and generosity of our staff,” said OECTA Elementary President Brian Breault, in a news release. “Knowing that 51 students will now have access to a bike, helmet, and lock is something everyone involved can be proud of. It is inspiring to see our school communities rally together to support children and families in such an incredible way.”
The funds were used to purchase and deliver 51 bicycles, helmets, and locks to students, including a specially adapted tricycle.
