Walpole Island First Nation Council says OPP will conduct historical investigations, beginning on May 13.
A community advisory was posted to Facebook on May 7.
"The team consists of investigators with specialized training, and their work will focus on reviewing and advancing a number of historical occurrences that are incomplete," said the statement. "The investigators will be using a trauma-informed, victim-centred approach throughout this process."
The post said the process is intended "to ensure outstanding historical matters are addressed in a respectful, professional, and compassionate manner."
It also said in some cases, investigators may need to speak with community members.
Sarnia News Today reached out to Lambton OPP for more information, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
