What started as an idea rooted in agriculture and community connection has raised over $14,000 for Noelle's Gift to Children.
Organizers of the 'History Will Be Made' event said more than 150 guests recently gathered at the Chatham Armouries for a world-record attempt at the World's Largest Dining Table.
Another key focus of the evening was raising awareness for Noelle's Gift Closets, an in‑school support initiative that provides students with immediate access to essential items, including nutritious food, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and seasonal necessities.
"This was never just about one night," said organizer Brad Campbell, local farmer and community advocate. "It was about planting a seed - bringing people together around shared values and creating something that continues to grow. Seeing the support for Noelle's Gift, especially the Closet program, confirms how aligned this event is with the needs of our community."
The event did inspire ongoing commitments to the Closet program, with individuals like Greg Davenport signing on to donate $5,000 over five years to the Gift Closet at John McGregor Secondary School.
"These commitments make a real difference," shared Elish Smith, Vice Principal of John McGregor and Co‑Chair of the Chatham‑Kent Chapter of Noelle's Gift to Children. "A Closet can quietly change a child's school experience."
She added that events like 'History Will Be Made' not only raise funds but also help people understand how their support directly impacts local students.
According to event organizers, the one-time attempt at a world record will now become a repeat event that they hope will bring the community together and support CK's children.
