A "record-setting" dining table that could end up seating more than 300 people is being built at the Chatham Armouries as part of a Guinness World Record attempt.
The event will include a three-course buffet style pasta dinner followed by a live auction.
The dining table will be built inside the armoury the night before the event is set to take place, holding a maximum of 314 people.
"We essentially will be building it as tickets are sold," Campbell explained. "So the world's largest table, currently the record is held in Moscow."
The funds raised will be given to Noelle's Gift to Children. The charity will use the donation to help fund its school programs, including student nutrition programs, community days, Noelle's Closet, and more.
Noelle's Gift to Children is focused on supporting youths enrolled at the Lambton-Kent District School Board and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
"They do a great job of being able to allocate the funds right into the schools, it just makes sense to do something in the community and try to get some people together to help out and build some awareness, and there's nothing more valuable than trying to help kids," Campbell continued.
A few chairs are still available, according to Campbell. Tickets can be purchased online.
Although this table is set to be quite long, Campbell noted they have plans for later in the year to complete an outdoor dining table, which Campbell hopes will be even longer.
