Canada picks up Olympic gold in freestyle skiing, speed skating

Team Canada won a pair of gold medals in as many days at the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy.

Megan Oldham came up big again on Monday with her second medal of the Games. She won gold in the women's freestyle skiing big air event at Livigno.

Oldham, from Newmarket, Ontario, only completed two runs, but that was enough for the win, with a total score of 180.75.

The American-born Ailing Eileen Gu, competing for China, took the silver. Flora Tabanelli of Italy won the bronze.

The scene then shifted to the Speed Skating Stadium in Milan for the women's team pursuit on Tuesday.

The Canadian team, consisting of Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann of Ottawa, and Valerie Maltais of Saguenay, Quebec, finished with a time of 2:55.81.

The Netherlands finished second, with Japan coming third. The American team finished off the podium in fourth.

As of late Tuesday morning, Canada had won 12 medals, three of them gold.
