Giant machines to be displayed Saturday at WFCU Centre

A popular early-summer event promoting literacy is set for Saturday in Windsor.

The City of Windsor's Children's Services Department is hosting the 14th Annual Meet-a-Machine in the parking lot of the WFCU Centre.

The event welcomes 80 vehicles of varying sizes and shapes, allowing young people to inspect them up close, climb aboard, and learn from the professionals who operate them every day.

The machines due to be displayed include emergency vehicles from police and fire services across Windsor-Essex, EMS vehicles, construction equipment, buses, race cars, military vehicles, and more.

Kids attending the free event will receive a book, as organizers promote early literacy and share the joy of reading.

Meet-a-Machine runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

A special sensory-friendly hour, sponsored by Autism Ontario, will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., before the public show opens, for people who prefer a quieter, less crowded experience. Pre-registration is required.
