The latest crime statistics from Windsor police show a fall in property crime complaints.
The crime statistics for April were released on Friday.
Property crime went down by 4.2 per cent compared to April 2025. When looking at 2026 to date, the decline was larger, by eight per cent.
Officers took 761 property crime reports in Windsor and Amherstburg in April, while 2,917 such complaints were recorded so far in 2026.
Property crime is defined in Windsor as arson, break-and-enter, fraud, mischief, and theft.
For personal crime, there was a slight increase in reports for April compared to 2025. There was a 1.2 per cent hike over April 2025, with 261 complaints logged.
Personal crimes include murder, sexual assault, abduction, assault, robbery, and harassment.
However, the overall number of personal crime reports is down year-to-date, by 2.5 per cent, with 913 reports.
Criminal Code violations that were not covered by the other two categories rose sharply in April. When compared to April 2025, the violations were up by 23.4 per cent. These offences include child sexual abuse material, non-violent weapons offences, betting and gaming offences, and administration of justice violations.
Year-to-date miscellaneous Criminal Code violations were up by 18.2 per cent.
With the ward-by-ward breakdown for Windsor only, Ward 1 and Ward 10 were tied for the lowest number of personal crimes. Ward 1 also had the lowest number of property crime reports.
Ward 3, which includes downtown, was the highest in both categories.
