Two defibrillators recently donated by the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund will honour the memory of two fallen soldiers from Lambton Shores.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) said the two life-saving machines will be placed at Rock Glen Conservation Area in Arkona.
The conservation authority said it's a fitting way to remember the service and sacrifices of Lt. Howard Vincent Pickering, who was killed in 1917; and Rifleman Edgar Dawson Butler, who died on D-Day in 1944.
“Lt. Pickering and Rifleman Butler made the ultimate sacrifice for us all," said Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund Executive Director and Co-Founder Patrick Armstrong in a statement. "These defibrillators will continue the service and dedication to the community [that they demonstrated]."

ABCA Workplace Safety Specialist Stacey Palen said they're grateful for the donation.
“Every additional AED (automated external defibrillator) in our community represents an opportunity to save a life. These donations strengthen our commitment to providing a safer environment for our staff, volunteers, visitors, and the public while ensuring life-saving equipment is available when every second counts," Palen said. "We sincerely thank the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund for their investment in the health and safety of our community. What a wonderful way to honour the memory of these two fallen soldiers from the Arkona area.”
The defibrillators were presented to the ABCA at the Arkona Lions Museum and Information Centre on July 30.
Meanwhile, Lambton OPP said the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund also donated two defibrillators to DeGroot's Nurseries and the Dante Club in July
One was dedicated in memory of Able Seaman Michael Hardy, who lost his life aboard HMCS Kootenay in 1969. The second machine was dedicated in memory of Ordinary Seaman Stephen Powell, who died aboard HMCD Margaree in 1940.
