Pair accused of deliberately setting fire at Wiltshire Drive home

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) has laid attempted murder and arson charges in a July 9 house fire on Wiltshire Drive.

Sarnia police, Sarnia Fire Rescue, and Lambton EMS responded to the residence, near the intersection of Murphy Road and Michigan Avenue, at around 9:25 a.m.

Emergency crews were met with heavy smoke and flames venting from the second storey.

Police said four occupants had exited the residence safely before they arrived, and another was found inside the home by fire crews.

One occupant suffered minor injuries, and another sustained serious, life-altering injuries, and both are expected to recover.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, and the scene was turned over to Sarnia police and the Ontario Fire Marshal for investigation.

Police said a 32-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both of Sarnia, have been arrested and charged with two counts each of attempted murder and arson causing bodily harm.

The man was also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.

Both individuals are now before the courts.

Their names have not been released.
