Grey County staff will hold an information session next week to help residents understand new changes to the Coyote and Beaver Compensation Programs.
The most notable change was a doubling of the fee paid for hunting or trapping the nuisance animals on private lands in Grey County, starting in 2027. The county will now pay $50 for evidence of a beaver carcass, up from $25; and $100 for evidence of a wolf or coyote, up from $50.
The new by-laws were passed in August, after debate about whether the program was still necessary.
An info session will be held at Grey County Administration in Owen Sound from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Staff will be available for the first hour to answer questions residents may have about the by-laws or claims processes. Then at 4:30 p.m. there will be a formal presentation, that will also be live-streamed on the County's Youtube channel.
