If you have donations for the United Way Bruce Grey backpack program, you can now drop them off at two OPP detachments in Walkerton and Kincardine.
South Bruce OPP will accept donations every weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until August 28.
The annual program provides new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 throughout Grey and Bruce counties at no cost to families in need. The goal is to ensure all students in the region have the supplies they need to succeed in the upcoming school year.
"Every child deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive," South Bruce OPP Inspector Wilcox said in a statement. "By supporting the backpack program, our community can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students and families."
Last year, more than 2,300 backpacks filled with school supplies were donated through the program.
Among the items needed are backpacks, pencil cases, binders, crayons and pens, notepaper, and rulers.
