Bruce Power's Nuclear Security team played host to a massive Interagency Tactical Skills Exchange Competition July 22 and 23.
The competition brought together teams from industry partners and law enforcement agencies across Ontario and New Brunswick. It included head-to-head competitions at the on-site firing range at Bruce Power. There were also industry vendors showcasing the latest tactical response gear.
Last year, Bruce Power hosted the competition for nine teams, and the response was so positive, the decision was made to host again this year with 14 teams and 12 vendors in attendance.
The event was initially put together after Bruce Power noticed a lack of tactical training events for not only its Nuclear Security team, but for other agencies, especially after COVID.
This year, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit earned the top spot, with Bruce Power Nuclear Security Team 1 (Dom Veroni, Ben Stephenson, Tyler Reiner, Lucas Garcia and James Vandusen) placing third.

"We’re proud of our entire Emergency and Protective Services division and its preparedness to respond to any plausible event, even if it’s unlikely," said Jeff Steven, Bruce Power’s Chief Security Officer and Head of Emergency Preparedness and Response. "We’re also proud of our on-site facilities and having the opportunity to share them with outside agencies in a competition setting is a great advantage for everyone."
