Mount Forest man charged in collision with parked car

Hanover police have charged a Mount Forest man who allegedly fled the scene after a collision with a parked car last summer.

On August 15, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., police received a report of a collision in a parking lot of a retail store.

Police said the investigation determined a pickup truck, driven by a man, struck an unattended car in parking lot before leaving the scene without stopping.

The collision reportedly resulted in over $17,000 worth of damage to the car, which was owned by an Orangeville resident.

Police eventually identified the suspect as a 40-year-old man from Mount Forest, and arrested him withoit incident on March 17.

He was charged with one count of failing to remain at a collision and released from custody with a court date in Walkerton.

Police remind drivers who finds themselves involved in a motor vehicle collision that they need to report the collision and provide details related to their name, address, vehicle information and insurance particulars to avoid any potential trouble with the law.
