Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say emergency 9-1-1 telephone services across the province have largely stabilized following periodic outages early Thursday morning.
At around 4 a.m. on September 17, OPP started receiving reports of intermittent 9-1-1 outages.
At which time, the police service notified the public to call the OPP non-emergency line if 9-1-1 was unavailable.
Officers continued to respond to calls for service during the temporary outage.
Shortly before 11 a.m. OPP in an updated news release, said that while the 9-1-1 system appears to be largely restored, it is possible that intermittent disruptions may still exist.

Members of the public are reminded not to call 9-1-1 to test the system or confirm if it works for you.
Intermittent outages were also reported Thursday in Quebec and Nova Scotia.
The exact cause of the widespread outage was not immediately known, and the investigation is ongoing.
The OPP extended its thanks to telecommunication network providers for working quickly to restore the emergency system.
