A large number of candidates running in Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming election will take part in an open house.
It will be held at the Chatham-Kent Armoury on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The newly formed Chatham-Kent Growth Alliance (CKGA) will host the event, so residents can meet face-to-face and hear from some of the people running for mayor or one of 14 councillor positions.
Each of the 86 candidates was invited, with some unavailable to attend due to prior commitments or simply failing to RSVP ahead of time.
The first hour will include a fireside chat with five of the seven mayoral candidates: Lauren Anderson, Michael Bondy, Darrin Canniff, Ryan Gow, and Randy Hope.
The second hour will feature roundtable discussions with candidates from each Ward. These discussions will happen simultaneously, with people encouraged to listen to the candidates running in their Ward.
The questions have been prepared by the CKGA, with each focusing on the organization's main priorities: meaningful consultation early and often, fiscal responsibility and transparency, investment in critical infrastructure, and fair and sustainable taxation.
No questions from the public will be accepted during the discussions.
