New name enters race to be Chatham councillor on CK's next council

The race to represent people in Northeast Chatham on Chatham-Kent's (CK) next council is heating up.

Dale VanDusen joins 15 others hoping to fill one of two Ward 7 councillor positions.

He told CK News Today that he decided to run because he believes there needs to be a serious change in how things are done at city hall.

"The change is not necessarily with council; the change is needed with senior management," explained VanDusen.

If elected, VanDusen would like to have some tough conversations about the municipality's administration.

"I just don't know if their thought process is wrong," he added.

VanDusen would also like the next council to focus on improving the municipality's financial position. This includes improving taxes and doing more while spending less.

When asked why people should vote for him, he explained that he's what he believes the municipality needs: a no-nonsense person.

"I'm not a politically correct person; I'll say what other people are scared to say. I'm not here to make friends; I'm here so we can all have a better community and get something done without going broke," he said.

CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
