Youth makers in the spotlight this weekend in Blenheim

The second annual Youth Entrepreneurship Market is coming to Talbot Trail Place in Blenheim this Saturday.

"I have 48 youth involved and setting up, as if it's like an Art in the Park and a Market, all rolled into one, except it's the children and youth that are doing this," said organizer Debbie Brush.

All the vendors are between the ages of six and 17, and will be selling their wares and promoting their businesses.

"They've got soap, candles, jewellery, and beaded chimes. I've got canvas artists, ones that are doing clothing, crocheting, 3D, dog treats and collars," said Brush. "There's a group of children that are doing decorative pens, and maple syrup and produce. It's just wonderful what these children do."

The market is free to attend, and will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Brush added that there is still time if any young people would like to have a booth at the event.

"They've got a couple days that I still have room. Typically I can fit over 80 people in the park, so having the 48 still is manageable with people at the last minute."
