A local insurance agent is looking to join the world of politics.
Jeff Comiskey has put his name forward for Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming election, running in Ward 6, which covers the north-west part of Chatham.
He told CK News Today that he decided to put his name forward because he believed he could add significant value to the next council.
"I think it's important for us to have advocates and voices and ensure that Chatham-Kent always has a voice for Ward 6," said Comiskey.
If elected, Comiskey would like to focus on managing the municipality's finances, specifically taxes, the budget, and the approval of financially sound projects.
One of his biggest priorities would also be supporting local businesses and attracting new ones to the region.
"The tax base is the ultimate answer to a lot of questions and things that we face, so growing our business community is very important," he added.
When asked why people should vote for him, Comiskey explained that he'd serve with the same mindset he's had as a business owner, ensuring that the customer's needs are paramount.
"I will lead with the same principles as your representative in Ward 6 to ensure that the needs of the citizens are always front and centre," he said.
CK voters will head to the polls on October 26, 2026.
