Chatham Hope Haven is opening its doors to help people avoid inhaling the wildfire smoke.
The shelter plans to remain open until 7 a.m. on Saturday, when the smoke is expected to leave the area.
According to Hope Haven, the organization is doing this despite not having the funds to do so.
"We are going out on a limb as we do not have the financial support to extend our hours yet, but we have faith that this will come. This is what an emergency Shelter does, and we know that we absolutely have to step up for our community," read a statement from Hope Haven.
