A familiar face has put her name forward ahead of Chatham-Kent's (CK) upcoming election.
Melissa Harrigan, who has been a CK councillor for the last eight years, is seeking a third term. She is running in Ward 1, which encompasses South West Kent.
"I put my name in, and I'm really looking forward to seeing a few of the things that I've been working on in the last two terms come to fruition," said Harrigan.
She explained that she wants the next council to focus on infrastructure.
"I think it is incredibly important that next council looks at infrastructure needs. I've always been an advocate of stormwater and storm sewer infrastructure. Ensuring that we stay committed to investing in our asset management plan is a huge priority for me," Harrigan continued.
Harrigan told CK News Today that she would be proud and honoured if residents voted for her.
"I think that they know that I am a councillor who communicates well with constituents and can help people solve problems and support the doers and the movers and shakers of our local small town," said Harrigan.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
