CK council to consider $2.5 million development in Tilbury

Tilbury could soon get more apartment units in the downtown core if Chatham-Kent (CK) councillors approved a tax break for the property owner.

According to a staff report going before CK council Monday night, the $2.5 million proposal is for the redevelopment of the existing mixed-use building to include 20 residential apartment units, four commercial units on the ground floor, and an updated façade at #13-21 Queen Street North in Tilbury.

The tax break provides economic incentive for the development, redevelopment, adaptive reuse or rehabilitation of properties in the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) areas.

The CIP allows market driven investment for targeted needs throughout Chatham-Kent, including rental and affordable housing, commercial business growth, and employment growth.
