Man charged after fire alarm pulled at CK police headquarters

Some may consider it a prank, but Chatham-Kent police are taking a tripped fire alarm very seriously.

According to police, a 31-year-old man went into police headquarters just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and activated the fire alarm, despite a lack of fire.

The incident was reportedly a breach of the man's probation order, which required him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The man was arrested and charged with false alarm of fire and failure to comply with a probation order.

During the arrest, police said the suspect spit on an officer, resulting in a charge of assault of a peace officer.

The man was held in police custody pending a bail.
