Community comes together for Ridgetown house fire victim

A benefit will be held to fundraise for a woman whose house burned down in February.

The event will be in Ridgetown and will include live music, prizes, raffles, food, and drinks.

"I just decided that she needed some help, so I've got this together. I managed to get it together in about three weeks' time," said event organizer Rocky West.

The devastating fire took Tamara Byron's home on February 17. She says that although times are tough, she is trying to take each day at a time.

"It warms my heart that people are coming together," said Byron.

West noted that the community has been a huge help in planning and donating for the fundraiser.

"This is actually a pretty solid community for helping people out. They helped me six years ago when I had cancer, to pay for an operation I had to have done," West continued.

The event will be held on Sunday from 1 pm. to 5 p.m. at the Ridgetown Legion.
