The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) is reminding drivers of the fines for not stopping for school buses, after investigating four incidents.
According to a social media post from CKPS, both the driver and the owner can be fined $490 and six demerit points if caught failing to stop for school buses.
There have been four reported incidents in the first three months of 2026. CKPS reviews each complaint and follows up when necessary.
"In addition to proactive patrol and enforcement, we rely on information provided by the community," CKPS Sergeant Jason Herder of the Community Patrol Brand Unit said.
He encourages anyone who sees unsafe driving near school buses to report it.
"Public input plays an important role in maintaining safe roadways for students and the community as a whole," Herder explained.
Reports can be made online or by calling the non-emergency CKPS line.
