Chatham man charged with harassing 18-year-old woman

A 37-year-old man from Chatham has been charged for allegedly harassing an 18-year-old woman.

The victim contacted police on Tuesday, claiming a man she knew through her job at a retail store would not leave her alone, despite being told to stop.

Police had previously spoken with the man, telling him to avoid any unwanted contact with the victim.

She reached out to the police again after receiving unwanted and inappropriate messages.

The man was later found on Simonton Street in Chatham and arrested. He was charged with harassing communication.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
