Double Assault

Chatham-Kent police have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted an employee at a Chatham business.

Just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to a business on Grand Avenue East for an unruly customer.

When officers arrived, they were told that an intoxicated man had assaulted a staff member after trying to get them to leave.

The officers found the man nearby and arrested him.

After arriving at the police headquarters, the man allegedly assaulted an officer and damaged his holding cell.

He was subsequently charged with assaulting a peace officer and mischief.

He's since been released from police custody with a future court date.

Break-and-Enter

A 31-year-old man has been charged after allegedly breaking into and damaging a home.

The incident happened just before 8 a.m. on Saturday in Chatham.

According to the police, the man kicked the door open and damaged property inside the home.

He was arrested and charged.

He's since been released with a future court date.

Purposely Causing Crash

A 28-year-old woman has been charged after police claim she purposely caused a car accident.

The incident happened after 10 p.m. on Saturday on Bloomfield Road in Chatham.

CK police allege the woman was riding with a 43-year-old man when she assaulted him and grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to collide with a hydro pole.

She was arrested after being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) for minor injuries.

She's since been charged with uttering death threats, mischief endangering life, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to comply with an undertaking, as the two were prohibited from communicating with each other.
